Yesterday club members served beer & OAB at the Craftathon in FWB. Nice crowd and a great venue. We broke a club record in the amount of beer & OAB served. There should be new pictures on club website. If you want to attend future beerfests or paid charity events on the clubs dime, you must provide ABs for the event or have helped make one of more of the bevs we serve. At this time our next BF is at the Fish House in June. THanks to Bernie for the wheat beer and to Ryan, Grant, Nanci.
and Jim for helping set up, break down, and serve.

Our next event is Big Brew Day at Garys this coming Saturday, May 7th. If you want to help, let me know. You would need to be there early. Club brew will be Imperial Porter. We will have a few beers and OAB for sampling. If you want to bring a keg let me know. so I can be prepared for serving. No prep needed for Smaller samples . Please do not bring commercial brews. Rick and maybe Scott will probably do separate brews. Anyone else, let me know for set up.

we are up to 20 plus cooks for the Crawfish boil at GCB on the 21st. RSVP is a must if you plan to attend. Are there anymore entries for SOM comp?

Our May calendar is as follows

7th-Big Brew Day at Gary's. Club is Brewing Imperial Porter. Rick A is now a probable to do a brew. Scott is still a maybe. If anyone else plans to do a demo let me know ASAP. We do need to plan for set up. If you are bringing a keg to share, please let me know what. Since the club is not buying food or beer there is no need to RSVP. If you want to help let me know and try to be there by 11.

14th-Winos Our hosts had to cancel. Can anybody volunteer to host the mtg. please respond ASAP

21st-Crawfish boil at Gulf Coast Brewery. RSVP is a must so we can buy the right amount of food. At this time we have 16 plus cooks. Last minute RSVP is not an option. We will also do the SOM comp on this day At this time we have 2 entries. are there any more. Style is Ordinary Bitter.

Who left the steel water bottle here Sunday???

There is no need to RSVP for Big Brew Day at Garys on May 7th. The club does not plan to order food or buy beer. Food will be available for purchase in the bar & maybe a food truck. I'll bring homebrew to share with all attendees.

Just to make sure everybody knows what's going on an RSVP for the Crawfish boil is an absolute necessity. We will buy crawfish based on RSVPs. We don't want to have a lot left over because of the cost. More importantly, we don't want to run out because some folks just show up hungry. There will be no charge for this event. Other than the cooks and staff at GCB we currently have only 8 RSVPs. THey are me, Mike W, Rick & Amy, Ryan, Steve and Tim & Dianne will be in town.

Mead making was successful yesterday. Rick, Joanne & Craig took home 5 gallons and the club kept 5 for future events. We will do 20 gallons more in the near future. If you want to participate wait until I let you know when. Following the mead we went Biblical And Ate, drank & made merry. Thanks to Rickey & Maria for the big pot of Rabbit Adobo.

Congrats to Bernie for winning entry for Wheat SOM comp. SOM for May is Ordinary bitter. It will be held at the Crawfish  boil at GCB on May 21. Let me know if you have an entry. Also let me know if you plan to attend the event. We have to get  an accurate head count for food purchase.

Our next event/mtg will be May 7th at Garys. This is national Big Brew Day. Club will brew 10 gallons of Imperial Porter for the event. if it turns out good it will be in the VIP room for BF in Sept. Rick and Scott will also do separate brews if they can make it. Let me know if anybody else wants to do a brew.

From what I hear, the mtg at Rollins went well yesterday. Thanks to Pat & Paul for hosting. I spent 6 hours with Marilynn at the emergency vet instead of going to the mtg. She is better today, but still in treatment.

Our next mtg will be the Mead making at my house on the 24th. Mead "class" will be followed by the monthly mtg as we did with the Solstice brew. It goes in the keg this week. We will have the SOM Comp during the mtg. Have 2 American wheat entries so far. Who else is in?

May 14th winos will be at the home of jim & Nanci Newhall.

Gumbo cook-off yesterday went well. Thanks to Ryan, Edna & Karen for cooking a pot of great gumbo. We got 2nd place for People's Choice. 

The distilling "class" at Rollins Distillery is 2-5. Try to be on time.

Our final meeting for April will be the 24th at my house. We will do the mead making before the mtg. Style of the month Comp is American wheat. we have 2 entries so far. Any more??

Gumbo cook off at Seville Apr 9th
Tera & Ryan will be in charge of our 2 teams.
Cooking starts at 11am and public tasting starts at 4 pm. The club will pay the $10 entry fee for members & SOs only if you RSVP for the event. 
If anyone wants to bring a keg of homebrew to share with the other cooks please let me know. There is limited space so we don't have room for more than six. Do not bring commercial beer.

Apr 10th BG mtg will be at Rollins distillery if you are interested in a program presented by Patrick, please let me know. we are limited to 17 participants. First come for remaining spots.

Need 4 more for 2nd 20 gal batch of mead on the 24th. If I don't get 4 today, will re schedule 2nd batch for a future date.
